Meghna Bank, BB sign deal for Tk 3,000cr refinance scheme
Recently, Meghna Bank PLC has signed an agreement to participate in Bangladesh Bank’s BDT 3,000 crore refinancing scheme aimed at increasing agricultural production and supporting the preservation, transportation, marketing, and processing of agricultural products.
The scheme also focuses on developing agri-based CMSMEs and expanding the export of agricultural products to create agri-based economic hubs in the country’s northern region.
Dr. Md. Kabir Ahmed, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, chaired the signing ceremony. AKM Saiduzzaman, Director, Agricultural Credit Department-2, Bangladesh Bank, and Mohammad Sohel Miah, SEVP & Head of SME Banking Division, Meghna Bank PLC, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.
Arief Hossain Khan, Executive Director and Spokesperson of Bangladesh Bank; Md. Shahabuddin, Head of Branch SME & Agri Banking, Meghna Bank PLC; and senior officials from both organizations were also present at the event.
The participation is expected to further strengthen Meghna Bank PLC’s efforts to promote agricultural and rural financing, particularly in the northern region of the country.
