Australia to host Test in Darwin opponent Bangladesh

Sports Reporter :

Australia will host a Test match in Darwin for the first time since 2004. Cricket Australia on Wednesday announced the schedule for a two-match Test series against Bangladesh in August. The remaining Tests of the series will be held in Mackay.

The first Test of the series will be held at Marara Stadium in Darwin from August 13-17. The second Test will be held at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay from August 22-26.

This is the second time Bangladesh are playing Tests on Australian soil. The Tigers last played a Test series in Australia in 2003.

The series was scheduled to be held in Bangladesh in 2020, but was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The upcoming series is part of the ongoing International Cricket Council (ICC) World Test Championship (WTC). It is also the first series in Australia’s busy schedule in red-ball cricket.

Last year, the white-ball series against South Africa was played in Darwin and Mackay. Cricket Australia previously played Test matches against Bangladesh in 2003 and Sri Lanka in 2004 in Darwin.

In addition to Bangladesh, New Zealand will tour Australia next year to play a four-match Test series. The Tests will be held in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney respectively.

After the Bangladesh series, Australia will tour South Africa to play a three-match Test series. They will also tour Zimbabwe to play an ODI series. England will come to Australia to play a limited-overs series during the rest of the summer.

Australia is scheduled to play a five-match Test series against India in January-February 2027. The Aussies will host England to celebrate their 150th Test at the MCG in March.

The Ashes series is in June-July 2027.

Australia-Bangladesh Test series schedule:

2nd Test: 22-26 August, Great Barrier Reef Arena, Mackay.
