In a historic milestone for Bangladesh’s aviation industry, Captain Fariel Bilkis Ahmed has etched her name in gold.
Already a pioneer as the first female pilot in the country’s private aviation sector, she has now achieved a monumental feat: becoming the youngest female Captain of the Boeing 777-300ER-the largest and most prestigious aircraft in the national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ fleet. A Legacy of Ambition Captain Fariel’s journey into the clouds was sparked by a bond of sibling inspiration. Her elder brother, Captain Noman, served as her mentor and guide, turning her childhood dreams of flight into a tangible reality.
Her formal training took off at the Bangladesh Flying Club, where her dedication soon bore fruit. She successfully earned her Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) under the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), setting the stage for a record-breaking career. In 2007 Captain Fariel Bilkis Ahmed Broke barriers as the first female pilot in Bangladesh’s private aviation, beginning her journey with the Dash-8 aircraft.
After that in 2010 she Joined the national carrier, Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
Over the years, she mastered various aircraft models, including the Fokker-28, Airbus-310, and Boeing-737.
The Pinnacle: Her recent promotion to Captain of the Boeing 777-300ER, a high-capacity “Triple Seven” jet used for long- haul international routes.
Aviation experts view this achievement as a paradigm shift, proving that Bangladeshi women are leading the way in highly technical and demanding fields. Speaking to our correspondent, a spokesperson for Biman Bangladesh Airlines state that “Captain Fariel Bilkis Ahmed’s achievement is not just a personal victory; it is a symbol of inspiration for the younger
generation.
She has proven that with a fixed goal and unwavering grit, any height is reachable.”
As the youngest woman to command the “Queen of the Skies,” Captain Fariel is more than just a pilot; she is a beacon of hope for thousands of young girls dreaming of a career in STEM and aviation.
Her flight continues to soar, carrying the map of Bangladesh across global skies with pride and elegance.
