Prime Bank joins Tk10,000cr agri refinance scheme

Prime Bank PLC has joined Bangladesh Bank’s Tk10,000 crore agricultural refinance scheme to boost agricultural production, strengthen food security, and create employment opportunities across the country.

A participation agreement was recently signed between Prime Bank and Bangladesh Bank at the central bank’s head office, according to a press release. Representatives from both organisations attended the signing ceremony.

Under the scheme, farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs will have access to loans at lower interest rates for eligible agricultural and rural economic activities.

The initiative is expected to expand financing in the agricultural sector and strengthen Prime Bank’s capacity to support farmers and agriculture-related enterprises.

The signing ceremony was attended by Prime Bank Additional Managing Director M Nazeem A Chowdhury, Head of Agro Business Shahana Parvin, Bangladesh Bank’s Agricultural Credit Department-2 Director AKM Saidzuzzaman, Additional Director Rafia Sultana, and Joint Director Md Sakhawat Hossain.

Senior officials from both organisations were also present.
