A schoolboy was rescued from an under-construction building in Khilgaon within an hour of being kidnapped as Prime Minister Tarique Rahman called for swift action.

According to the Prime Minister’s Press Wing, the father of the kidnapped student, Khandaker Shamim, is an employee of the Secretariat.

After learning about his son’s abduction, he rushed to the Prime Minister’s Office in tears seeking assistance.

The Prime Minister took immediate action, directly contacting the police and instructing them to launch a rescue operation without delay.

The rescue operation was conducted by DC Masud Alam of Ramna Division of the Police.

He said that the kidnapped boy is a ninth-grader at the National Laboratory Ideal School in Khilgaon.

After leaving the school at 2:30 pm, four or five people took him to a seven-story under-construction building in Jorpukur area.

There, he was beaten up and a ransom of Tk 50,000 was demanded, otherwise he was threatened with death.

DC Masud said that the police first started communicating with the kidnappers by promising to send money.

During the bargaining over the ransom money, the police identified the location of the kidnappers.

Then the boy was rescued in a raid. However, the kidnappers fled after sensing the presence of the police.
