Mustafiz to play in Big Bash League
Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman will be seen in Australia’s franchise T20 tournament Big Bash League (BBL). This is the first time the left-arm pacer is going to play in the tournament. He has been picked by Melbourne Renegades.
The news came during the D3 Trophy players’ auction in Dhaka on Monday. The matter of Mustafiz playing in the Big Bash was announced during the auction.
Later, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Tamim Iqbal also confirmed that the pacer will play for the Melbourne Renegades.
Mustafiz had sought a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the BCB to play in the Big Bash League. The BCB also granted him that permission.
As a result, his team Seven Rings Cement will not be able to play him for the entire duration of the D3 Trophy to be held from December 12 to January 25.
Seven Rings Cement bought Mustafiz for 7 million points in Monday’s auction. But due to his busy schedule in the Big Bash League, the franchise will have to plan without this pacer in the first season of the tournament.
Mustafiz has no shortage of experience in franchise cricket. He has played in the IPL, PSL, BPL, ILT20, LPL and England’s Vitality Blast.
This time, Big Bash is also going to be added to that list. Before Mustafiz, Shakib Al Hasan and Rishad Hossain played for Bangladesh in the Big Bash League.
Rishad Hossain will also play in the tournament this time. This leg-spinner will take the field for Hobart Hurricanes for the second consecutive season.
