ACC raids Bagerhat BRTA office over irregularities
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) raided the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Bagerhat office on Tuesday morning over the allegations of irregularities.
The raid was conducted at the BRTA office near the central bus stand in Bagerhat town.
The ACC initially found evidence of irregularities in driving licence applications submitted over the past six months, the commission said.
ACC Assistant Director Md Abul Qayyum Howlader led the operation.
The operation was conducted under the direction of the ACC headquarters following specific allegations, he said.
“Some applicants who applied for driving licences over the past six months did not appear for the written and oral tests, but the records showed that they had passed. We found evidence of this in the registers maintained by the office. We have seized the documents for further examination,” he said.
He added that a detailed investigation report would be sent to the ACC headquarters after the documents had been reviewed. The headquarters would then take action against those found to be involved.
ACC District Office Deputy Assistant Director Sameeran Kumar Mandal and Deputy Assistant Director Shyamal Chandra Sen were also present. During the drive, ACC officials examined various activities, service-related documents and other relevant records at the BRTA office.
