BCB proposes Bashar for selector
Sports Reporter :
Former Bangladesh national cricket team captain Habibul Bashar can replace Gazi Ashraf Hossain as the chairman of the national selection panel when the latter ends his tenure by the end of this month.
The BCB has given him the desired timeframe, Bashar told the reporters on Wednesday.
Ashraf was appointed as the chief selector in February 2024 by the then Najmul Hasan Papon-led board, while his two-year term would end on February 28.
Ashraf recently confirmed that he had sent the BCB a letter saying he would not continue after the end of his term due to personal reasons.
Bashar has previously served as a national team selector, holding the position for almost eight years from 2016 to 2024. He is currently serving as the Programme Co-ordinator of BCB’s Game Development Committee.
With his extensive experience, the board is keen to reinstate him as a chief selector.
Bashar is not accepting the offer right now. He has asked for a few more days.
