Dr. Ilias Molla wins Faridpur-1

After 54 years, in the National Assembly elections in Faridpur-1 (Madhukhali-Boalmari and Alfadanga) constituency, Md. Ilias Molla, nominated by Jamaat, has been elected in the Awami League stronghold without Awami League after getting 154,145 votes. His nearest rival is BNP’s Nasirul Islam, who won 126,476 votes and independent candidate Md. Basar Khan, who won 34,387 votes with the football symbol.

Out of the 8 candidates contesting in this constituency, 5 are on the verge of losing their deposits. This information is known according to the results received from the office of District Returning Officer Md. Kamrul Hasan Molla. According to the Bangladesh Election Commission’s circular dated December 13, 2025, if a candidate does not get one-eighth or 12.5 percent of the total votes cast in his constituency, his deposit will be forfeited.

On the way to forfeiture of deposit, independent candidate Md. Golam Kabir Motorcycle received 2159 votes. Janata Party’s minority Mrinmoy Kanti Das received 786 votes on the rocket symbol. Jatiya Party (JPA) Sultan Ahmed Khan received 506 votes on the plow symbol, independent candidate (NCP) Md. Hasibur Rahman received 450 votes on the deer symbol and independent candidate Abdur Rahman (GICO) received only 84 votes on the camel symbol. Their deposits will be forfeited.
