Joypurhat prepares for polls as election materials sent out

Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, election materials are being sent to various polling centres in the two parliamentary constituencies of Joypurhat district. Starting from 11:00 am, the materials are distributed from the SadarUpazila Election Office.

All necessary election items, including seals, pens, paper pads, transparent ballot boxes, and other equipment, are handed over to the respective presiding and polling officers for use during the election.

District Election Officer Mahmud Hasan states that from early morning, the responsible officers collect the materials from the election office in the presence of law enforcement personnel. For enhanced security, CCTV cameras have already been installed at most polling centres.

In Joypurhat district, the law enforcement deployment includes 2 platoons of RAB, 13 platoons of BGB, 618 army personnel, 1,022 police officers, and 3,315 Ansar members. Additionally, 20 executive magistrates, including one judicial magistrate per upazila, are deployed across the district.

Out of a total of 255 polling centres in the district’s two constituencies, 100 centres are marked as sensitive and 155 as general centres.

According to District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Al Mamun Mia, the officers collect the materials from the election office in the presence of law enforcement personnel and, with the support of Ansar and police, deliver them to their respective polling centres.

All officials are working together to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election.
