Kayser Kamal heads BD team at 69th CPC

Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Barrister Kayser Kamal left Dhaka yesterday to lead a five-member Bangladesh parliamentary delegation to the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) in Cape Town, South Africa, from September 13 to 19.

The Bangladesh delegation will join parliamentarians and representatives from Commonwealth countries at the conference, which will focus on “Strengthening International Law and Parliamentary Democracy in a Changing World Order: Commonwealth Leadership.”

The delegation includes BNP MPs Humam Quader Chowdhury and Sakila Farzana, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami MP Md Mahbubul Alam, and Secretary of the Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat Barrister Md Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, who will serve as secretary to the delegation.

The conference will also provide an opportunity for Bangladesh to engage with parliamentary representatives from other Commonwealth countries through bilateral meetings and various workshops.
During the conference, Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Premier of South Africa’s Western Cape province Alan Winde. The Bangladesh delegation may also hold meetings with representatives of other participating countries and engage with Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference leaders in workshops aimed at strengthening parliamentary democracy.

The 69th CPC is scheduled to continue in Cape Town from September 13 to 19. The Bangladesh delegation is scheduled to return to Dhaka on September 20.
