Lal Sabuj Society Achieves NGO Affairs Bureau Registration After 16 Years of Youth-Led Impact
City Desk :
Lal Sabuj Society, a youth-led organization, has been steadily progressing for nearly 16 years and has recently achieved a significant milestone by securing registration with the government’s NGO Affairs Bureau.
On Tuesday, January 20, the organization officially received its NGO registration certificate. The Director General of the NGO Affairs Bureau, Dawood Mia, formally handed over the signed letter to Tahsin Uddin, President of Lal Sabuj Society.
The journey of Lal Sabuj began in May 2010 as a small youth initiative founded by Tahsin Uddin, alongside Fahim Saurav and Nazmul Haque Naeem, when they were just 13 years old. Over nearly one and a half decades, the initiative has grown into a nationally recognized organization.
This achievement reflects the collective dedication of thousands of young people across the country and stands as a powerful example of youth-led courage, leadership, and perseverance. Beyond Bangladesh, Lal Sabuj Society has begun expanding its activities in countries such as Nepal and Malaysia, with plans to establish leadership teams in several other nations.
From its humble beginnings, the organization now reaches more than 200,000 people and works directly with over 2,500 youth members across 35 districts of Bangladesh. Through awareness campaigns, workshops, and training programs, Lal Sabuj Society actively empowers young people and promotes positive social change, aligning its work with at least seven United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under the slogan “Engaging Youth for Positive Change.”
Lal Sabuj’s journey started with a youth-led monthly magazine published in Barishal, later evolving into the Lal Sabuj Foundation in 2015. In 2019, it received registration from the Department of Social Services under the Ministry of Social Welfare, and the recent NGO Affairs Bureau registration marks a historic step forward.
Commenting on the achievement, Founder Tahsin Uddin said, “We are delighted, and at the same time conscious that our responsibilities have increased.
With respect for this responsibility, we will continue to move forward and work even harder.”
Members, supporters, and well-wishers have warmly welcomed this long-awaited recognition, sharing heartfelt congratulations and celebrating a moment of pride for the entire Lal Sabuj community.
