Votes can’t be stuffed with black money: Saiful Haque
Staff Reporter :
Revolutionary Workers Party’s General Secretary and BNP-backed candidate Saiful Haque with the Kodal (hoe) symbol from Dhaka-12 constituency, said those who think they can stuff ballot boxes using black money and muscle power should forget those days. He said the people of Dhaka-12 will reject those who engage in hooliganism and extortion. “Insha’Allah, with the love of Tarique Rahman and the Kodal symbol, we will win by a huge margin,” he added.
He made these remarks on Thursday afternoon while addressing an election campaign rally in front of Pragati Bhaban at Karwan Bazar in the capital.
Saiful Haque said that very recently the nation lost leader Begum Khaleda Zia, and Swechchhasebak Dal leader Musabbir was brutally killed by terrorists’ bullets. Many, including Sajedul Islam Suman, have been forcibly disappeared here. Many others have fallen victim to brutal killings, including Shaheed Kazi Abdur Rahman, Shaheed Mama Khokon, Shaheed Babul, Shaheed Faruk, and Shaheed Biplob. “We will not forget any of them,” he said. He further said that if the people of Dhaka-12 elect him, he will hold public hearings every month in each ward with ordinary citizens.
“I will personally listen to people’s joys and sorrows and work for remedies from the grassroots to the highest levels,” he said. He added that Dhaka-12 has lost its original beauty due to terrorism, extortion, and drugs, despite hosting landmarks such as the internationally renow-ned Hatirjheel, the mausoleums of Shaheed Zia and Khaleda Zia, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, and other important installations. “Tarique Rahman has placed his trust in me for this constituency.
With the people, I will present Dhaka-12 to him, Insha’Allah,” he said.
Leaders and activists from all wards and units under Tejgaon Police Station, Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station, Hatirjheel Police Station, and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station were present at the rally, along with supporters and leaders from all affiliated organizations, including Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Chhatra Dal, Mahila Dal, Sramik Dal, Krishak Dal, Tanti Dal, and others from all levels.
