The Navy Institute of Hospitality Management (NIHM) was inaugurated in Khulna on Thursday by the Chief of the Navy, Admiral M Nazmul Hasan.
Senior officials of the Bangladesh Navy, military and civilian dignitaries, academicians, representatives from the tourism and hospitality sectors, and members of the media attended the inauguration ceremony.
Located at the Bangladesh Navy Training Base ‘School of Logistics and Management’ in the Luanchara area near Khan Jahan Ali Bridge, NIHM is a modern professional training institute managed by the Naval Welfare Foundation.
The institute will operate in line with the policies and standards of the National Skill Development Authority (NSDA).
NIHM aims to produce skilled and disciplined human resources for the hospitality management sector through quality theoretical and practical training. The institute has initially launched three NSDA-approved courses, including bakery and pastry production, food and beverage production, and food and beverage service.
Equipped with modern classrooms, advanced kitchens and accommodation facilities, the institute plans to expand its course offerings and develop a permanent campus with full residential facilities for male and female trainees.
Authorities expect NIHM to play a significant role in developing nationally and internationally competitive manpower and contributing to the country’s economic growth by creating employment opportunities in collaboration with commercial organizations.
