NBR establishes interconnection ASYCUDA World BGMEA’s e-UD system
BSS:
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has established an interconnection between the ASYCUDA World system and the e-UD (electronic Utilization Declaration) system issued by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), aiming to modernize bond management and expedite customs clearance.
The integration came into effect today as part of NBR’s initiative to make bond management more modern and time befitting, accelerate duty assessment of imported raw materials and exported goods under bond facilities, and thus introducing a technology-driven verification process to enhance competitiveness in the global market.
Before the interconnection, verification of UDs relied on manual processes and dependence on BGMEA’s system, which often led to procedural complexities, delays in clearance, and challenges in ensuring transparency and accountability, said a NBR press release.
With the implementation of the new system, UD verification will now be conducted fully online and on a real-time basis. The initiative is expected to significantly reduce dependence on paperwork, enhance revenue protection, minimize risks, and make the import-export clearance process faster and more efficient.
It will also help bring bond management in line with modern standards.
