IFIC Bank holds workshop on AML, CFT

IFIC Bank PLC organised an Awareness Workshop last week on Anti Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism AML and CFT compliance for the members of the Bank’s Board of Directors Chairman of the bank Md. Mehmood Husain along with all members of the Board of Directors namely Md. Ebtadul Islam, Kazi Md. Mahboob Kasem, FCA, Md. Golam Mostofa and Md. Monzorul Haque as well as the Managing Director of the Bank Syed Mansur Mustafa, Deputy Managing Directors and members of the Senior Management participated in the workshop, according to a press release.

The workshop was conducted by Rezwanur Rahman, Additional Director, Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit BFIU, and Ms. Juairia Haque, Joint Director, BFIU, who served as resource persons.The session aimed to enhance the Board members’ understanding of their roles in ensuring effective AML and CFT compliance, relevant regulatory requirements, and the responsibilities of reporting organizations, including banks.

Key focus areas included observations of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit arising from AML and CFT system check inspections, the recent money laundering landscape in the country and the Board’s role in strengthening governance and compliance oversight.
