Silicon Valley investors explore Bangladesh opportunities
Bangladesh is seeking to deepen engagement with global technology leaders and attract investment in emerging industries as part of efforts to diversify the economy, strengthen technological capacity and support long-term growth.
A high-level Bangladeshi delegation held a CEO and senior executive roundtable in California on Sunday, exploring investment opportunities and strategic partnerships in technology sectors ranging from artificial intelligence and semiconductors to digital infrastructure and advanced manufacturing.
The roundtable, titled “Technology Investment and Strategic Partnerships for Bangladesh’s Growth”, was hosted by the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Los Angeles at the Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley.
The delegation was led by Finance and Planning Adviser Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir and included State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Boby Hajjaj, and Adviser to the Prime Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Science and Technology Rehan Asif Asad.
Bangladesh Consul General in Los Angeles Kazi Muhammad Jabed Iqbal and officials from the Prime Minister’s Office also attended the event.
The discussion was moderated by Shamim Mohammad, executive vice-president and chief information and technology officer of CarMax.
Among the prominent participants were Amjad Masad, founder and chief executive officer of Replit; Jay Chaudhry, founder, chairman and CEO of Zscaler; and Dr Omar Ishrak, former chairman of Intel and former chairman and CEO of Medtronic.
Senior executives, entrepreneurs and investors from the semiconductor, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, space technology, venture capital, digital infrastructure and advanced technology sectors also took part in the roundtable.
The discussions focused on practical opportunities for Bangladesh to attract investment and develop partnerships in several technology-driven areas.
These included artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, semiconductor design and manufacturing, digital infrastructure, education and skills development, venture capital, healthcare technology, earth observation and advanced manufacturing.
The participants also discussed ways to strengthen Bangladesh’s technological ecosystem by connecting the country with global investors, technology companies and entrepreneurs.
The roundtable was organised as part of Bangladesh’s broader efforts to engage global technology leaders and explore investment opportunities and strategic partnerships in emerging technology sectors.
The initiative comes as Bangladesh seeks to build new sources of economic growth through technology, investment and skills development while expanding its participation in higher-value global industries.
