Fish, chilli prices up in Khulna market

Fishes are being sold at high prices in Khulna market. A seller said that the supply of fish in the market is low. However, the price of fish may decrease after a few days. The price of green chillies has increased again.

Buyers are in trouble due to the high market. Meanwhile, the price of eggs has started to decrease.

And the vegetable market is stable. However, buyers complain that the price of vegetables in Moylapota and New Market is very different from that in the mobile market.

On Friday , a visit to Khulna city’s New Market Raw Market and Moylapota Evening Market showed that raw jhal was priced at 200-240 taka per kilogram, cauliflower at 180 taka, carrots at 160 taka, tomatoes at 140 taka, brinjal at 130 taka, beans at 120 taka, ole at 120 taka, uchche at 100 taka, barbati at 80 taka, bitter gourd at 80 taka, kakrol at 80 taka, kale at 80 taka, patal at 70 taka, kushi at 60 taka, jhing at 60 taka, radish at 60 taka, dhendul at 50 taka, sweet pumpkin at 50 taka, gourds at 40-50 taka depending on size, papaya at 30 taka, spinach at 60 taka, red cabbage at 50 taka, and potatoes at 25 taka.

Meanwhile, fish prices have been high for the past few days. Shrimp 650-700 taka per kg, large size lumpfish 1400-1600 taka, medium size bagda shrimp 1200 taka, bhetki 700-800 taka depending on size, pangas fish 220 taka, medium size tilapia 180 taka, persha 650-700 taka, pabda 400 taka, katla 240-500 taka depending on size, tengra 1200 taka. Broiler 170 taka per kg, sonali and cock 270 taka. Beef 750 taka per kg, mutton 1000 taka to 1100 taka.

Muhsin Hossain, a cloth merchant who came to the New Market market, said that the price of vegetables is high.

In this situation, it is difficult to market. Especially the price of new vegetables is high. They spend their days hoping that the price will come down after a few days.

Shariful Islam and Sameer Das, fish sellers at the evening market, said that the import of fish in the market is low. The price is high due to the low import.

Anwar Hossain, who came to buy fish at this market, said, “Generally, the market price should be low at this time.

However, we are seeing the opposite. This is happening due to the lack of proper monitoring. Even though we have jobs, it is difficult for us to go to the market. What will happen to the workers there?”
