Ex Mayor Ivy on two-day remand

A Narayanganj court has granted a two-day remand for Dr. Selina Hayat Ivy, former mayor of Narayanganj City Corporation, in connection with the murder case of Minarul, which occurred during the anti-discrimination student movement.

The order was issued on Sunday by Senior Judicial Magistrate Nur Mohsin. Ivy appeared virtually in court from Kashimpur Jail during the hearing.

Earlier on May 21, police sought a seven-day remand to interrogate Ivy in the Minarul murder case. After hearing the arguments, the court approved a two-day remand.

Inspector Md. Kaiyum Khan of the Narayanganj Court Police confirmed that the court approved a two-day remand for Ivy. She attended the hearing
virtually from Kashimpur prison.

Dr. Selina Hayat Ivy was arrested in the early hours of May 5 by police in connection with the murder of Minarul in Siddhirganj. Following her arrest, the court ordered her to be sent to jail the same day after the initial hearing.
