HC annuls appointment of 6,531 primary teachers

The High Court (HC) has cancelled the government’s decision to appoint 6,531 candidates as assistant teachers in primary schools across the Dhaka and Chittagong divisions.

A High Court bench, comprising Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Shikdar Mahmudur Raji, delivered the verdict on Thursday.

The court directed the authorities to conduct a fresh recruitment process based on merit.

On November 19, the High Court issued a rule and suspended the recruitment process for six months after the initial hearing of a writ petition filed by 30 deprived candidates. Following this, the recruitment of 6,531 candidates was halted.

The recruitment circular was published on June 14, 2023. The final results of the recruitment test were announced on October 31, selecting 6,531 candidates based on their written and oral exam scores.
