Nuclear science edu prog held in Ishwardi
As part of the public awareness activities under the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Construction Project, a programme titled “Nuclear Science Education Programme and Mobile Science Museum Exhibition” was held at various educational institutions in Ishwardi on August 13 and 14, 2026, in collaboration with the National Museum of Science and Technology.
Students from Ikshu Research High School, Alhaj Textile Mills High School, Maniknagar Girls’ High School and Jamiatul Quranul Karim Madrasa participated in the programme.
The National Museum of Science and Technology’s mobile science museum, “Museubus,” presented various interactive scientific exhibits for the students.
Representatives of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission and the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Construction Project also conducted informative sessions on nuclear energy, radiation, the peaceful uses of nuclear technology and the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant. A question-and-answer session and a quiz competition on nuclear science were also held as part of the programme.
Dr. Ananda Kumar Das, Director of the Scientific Information Division of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission, said the initiative was aimed at developing students’ interest in science and providing them with accurate information about the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.
He said interactive activities such as the mobile science exhibition, quiz competition and question-and-answer session created an easier and more enjoyable opportunity for students to learn about science.
Saikat Ahmed, Senior Scientific Information Officer of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Construction Project, said it is important to provide students with accurate and evidence-based knowledge at an early stage of their education.
He said initiatives such as Museubus help develop a scientific mindset among students while creating opportunities for them to learn about nuclear science and technology. Such participatory science-based activities will encourage students’ curiosity and spirit of inquiry and help dispel misconceptions about nuclear science and technology.
Chief Scientific Officer of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission Achma Begum, Senior Librarian Maruf Hossain and Public Relations Officer of the project Kazi Mohammad Iqbal Hasani were present at the programme. Saikat Sarker, Chief Display Officer of the National Museum of Science and Technology, along with other officials, also participated.
The organisers said the mobile science education programme would help develop students’ interest in science and technology, provide them with evidence-based knowledge about nuclear science, and create a positive and realistic understanding among the future generation about Bangladesh’s peaceful nuclear programme.
