23 senior police transferred

The government has transferred 23 senior police officials, including deputy inspector generals (DIGs), additional DIGs, superintendents of police (SPs) and additional SPs, in a major reshuffle of the Bangladesh Police.

The transfers were announced through four separate notifications issued by the Police-1 branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday. The orders, issued in the public interest, will take effect immediately.

The reshuffle covers several key police units and districts, including metropolitan police, district police, the Highway Police, Special Branch, Armed Police Battalion (APBn), Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and police training centres.

Under one of the notifications, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner DIG Mohammad Abdul Mabud has been transferred to the Rangpur Range. Industrial Police DIG Md Zulfikar Ali Haider has been posted to the Barishal Range.

SP Kaniz Hossain Jahan, who was serving with the metro rail police, has been transferred to the APBn.
Several officials of the Special Branch have also received new postings. Special Branch Special SP Zerin Akter, a supernumerary additional DIG, has been transferred to the Tangail Police Training Centre as SP.

SB Additional SP Md Jahangir Alam, a supernumerary SP, has been transferred to the Noakhali Police Training Centre as additional SP. SB Special SP Mohammad Ehsan Sattar, a supernumerary additional DIG, has been posted to the Khulna Police Training Centre as SP.

Changes in district police
The reshuffle has brought significant changes to several district police administrations.
Kushtia SP Mohammad Jasim Uddin has been transferred to Gazipur, while Gazipur SP Md Sharif Uddin has been posted to the Highway Police.

SP Md Aminul Islam, who was serving at the office of the Sylhet Range DIG, has been transferred to Kushtia. Narayanganj SP Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Munsi has also been transferred to the Highway Police.

Khulna SP Mohammad Tajul Islam has been transferred to APBn, while SP Sarkar Omar Faruk of the Police Staff College in Dhaka has been posted to Khulna.

Highway Police sees major changes
Several senior officials of the Highway Police have also been transferred as part of the reshuffle.
Highway Police Additional DIG Farida Yasmin has been transferred to the Barishal Range DIG office, while Highway Police Additional DIG Mir Moddasser Hossain has been posted to Sarda in Rajshahi.
Highway Police SP Mohammad Shahinur Alam Khan, a supernumerary additional DIG, has been transferred to the Special Branch. Highway Police SP Md Rezaul Karim has been posted to APBn.
Meanwhile, PBI SP Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, APBn SP Dipak Jyoti Khisa and RAB Additional DIG Md Saleh Uddin have all been transferred to the Highway Police.

Several officials posted to DMP
The latest orders also bring several senior officers to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Barishal Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Md Sharfuddin has been transferred to the DMP. APBn SP Muhammad Abdul Wahab has also been posted to the capital’s police force.

Sylhet Metropolitan Police DC Md Akhtar Hossain has been transferred to the DMP, while CID Special SP Md Touhidul Arif has also been posted to the capital.

The government did not provide specific reasons for the individual transfers in the notifications, stating that the orders were issued in the public interest.

The latest move represents a broad reorganisation of senior police postings, with changes affecting metropolitan police commissioners and deputy commissioners, district SPs, specialised units and senior officials serving in training and investigative agencies.
The transfer orders will come into effect immediately.
