Actor Faruque Ahmed turns director

Faruque Ahmed, a renowned actor with a career spanning over 40 years, is stepping into the director’s chair for the first time. Known for his
remarkable performances in theater, television, and movies, Faruque has been a member of the popular theater group Dhaka Theatre for many years.
Now, he is directing a stage play titled ‘Rongmohal,’ written by Rubaiyat Ahmed.
Expressing his gratitude, Faruque Ahmed told this correspondent, “I am grateful to the eminent theatre personalities Nasir Uddin Yousuff and Shimul Yusuf for believing in me and giving me such a great responsibility.”
“The story of the play is thoughtful; the audience will leave the hall with an essence of food for their thoughts,” he also said.
Faruque Ahmed added, “I believe that whatever we serve to the audience should be tasteful. Whether it’s comedy, romance, or mystery, the audience will enjoy any good project.”
As a former student of Jahangirnagar University, Faruque Ahmed had the opportunity to learn many lessons regarding theater from the eminent playwright and theater personality Selim Al Deen.
He also directed stage plays besides acting during his university days.
“After joining Dhaka Theatre, I have learned so many things and am still learning from Nasir Uddin Yousuff. I believe that my work will reflect his teachings,” he shared.
Rehearsals for the play ‘Rongmohal’ are currently underway, and it is scheduled to be staged in October.
