‘Bangla Sangeet Utsab’ starting under Leena Taposhi’s initiative

‘Bangla Sangeet Utsab’ is being held under the initiative of renowned Nazrul Sangeet artiste Dr Leena Taposhi Khan. The festival will start on March 6 (today)
at the TSC Auditorium of Dhaka University.
Under the banner of Lina Taposhi Khan founded ICBM (International Centre for Bengal Music), Nazrul Sangeet and Rabindra Sangeet will be performed in this festival as well as there will be a discussion on different genres of Bengali songs and research activities.
In this festival, the contestants will get a chance to perform different types of songs including Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet, Lalon, Baul, folk and modern Bengali songs.
While talking in this regard, Leena Taposhi Khan told this correspondent, “The ICBM has taken the initiative of this festival to enrich the genre of Bengali music. I hope that this kind of activities will continue for the progress of country music.”
Meanwhile, about the establishment of ICBM, Dr Leena Taposhi Khan told this correspondent, “There is no such institution of music in the country. In that respect it is a unique institution, especially for higher research in music education, performance etc.”
