Ekushey Book Fair starts tomorrow

The month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair-2024 will begin tomorrow on the premises of the Bangla Academy and Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital to welcome thousands of book lovers.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the fair in person at 3.00 pm on Thursday,” Member Secretary of the Book Fair Committee Dr KM Muzahidul Islam informed at a press conference held at Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium of Bangla Academy yesterday while Bangla Academy’s Director General Mohammad Nurul Huda also delivered his speech.

Cultural Secretary Khalil Ahmed will be present at the ceremony as a special guest while Mohammad Nurul Huda will deliver the welcome address chaired by Bangla Academy President Selina Hossain.

The Prime Minister also unveiled some book including ‘Collected Works of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman: Volume-2’ at the inauguration ceremony and will also give the Bangla Academy Literary Award -2023.

The Book Fair will remain open from 3:00pm to 9.00pm on weekdays and for holidays the time span will be 11am to 9.00 pm.

This year, the Bangla Academy, itself, is doing all the work of the fair as the book fair organizer did not get satisfactory corporation from various event management organization earlier.
