India’s President Murmu congratulates Fakhrul on assuming BD presidency
Indian President Droupadi Murmu has congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on assuming office as Bangladesh’s President, expressing confidence in his political experience and leadership.
In a letter dated August 21, Murmu said Fakhrul’s long experience in public life and political leadership would contribute to a successful tenure in the service of the people of Bangladesh.
The Indian president also underscored the close relationship between India and Bangladesh, describing the bilateral ties as rooted in shared history, sacrifices, cultural links and longstanding friendship.
“India and Bangladesh share a unique relationship, rooted in a shared history of sacrifices, close cultural ties and warm bonds of friendship,” she said.
Murmu noted that bilateral cooperation had expanded in recent years across several areas, including energy, technology, connectivity, youth affairs, health and education.
She expressed her willingness to work with Fakhrul to further strengthen the partnership between the two neighbouring countries.
“I look forward to working with you to further strengthen the partnership between our two neighbouring countries,” she said.
Murmu also conveyed her best wishes to Fakhrul for continued good health and happiness, the successful discharge of his responsibilities and the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Bangladesh.
