MP Milon inaugurates new building in Kaliganj
Several new school buildings were inaugurated in Kaliganj, Gazipur for the development of education, 219 meritorious students were honored, anti-drug meetings and tree saplings were distributed.
In the first part of the day-long program on Tuesday, the red ribbon was cut to inaugurate the new building of St. Mary’s Girls High School and College, prizes were distributed among the students’ book reading and debate competitors, and a special cultural programme and dance were performed on the occasion of Nazrul Barsho.
The programme was jointly conducted. Later in the afternoon, after the inauguration of the newly constructed building of Kaliganj R.R.N. Pilot Government High School, an anti-drug meeting was held in the school grounds.
Local MP A.K.M. Fazlul Haque Milon was present as the chief guest at the program presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer A.T.M. Kamrul Islam. Gazipur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Nurul Karim Bhuiyan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) M. Rakibul Hasan and Additional District Magistrate Kazi Najib Hasan. St. Mary’s Girls High School and College Principal C. Bina Christina Rosario delivered the welcome speech.
Among others present at the event were Assistant Commissioner (Land) Al-Amin Halder, Additional Superintendent of Police (Kaliganj Circle) Md. Asaduzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of Kaliganj Police Station Md. Zakir Hossain, Upazila BNP Convener Master Humayun Kabir, Upazila BNP Member Secretary Khalequzzaman Bablu, Upazila BNP Convener Members Mohammad Solaiman Alam, Khairul Ahsan Mintu, Ashrafi Habibullah and Gazipur District Jubo Dal Former General Secretary Masud Rana.
On the occasion of the Deputy Commissioner’s first visit to Kaliganj, the progress of the ongoing development activities of the upazila, improvement of the quality of public services and the law and order situation were discussed.
The Deputy Commissioner said, mentioning zero tolerance against drugs, he said, there is no exemption for drugs, child marriage, and eve-teasers.
The field administration will have to work more actively to ensure public services. He emphasized on ensuring transparency and accountability in the implementation of development projects as well as resolving the problems of the common people quickly.
Chief guest A.K.M. Fazlul Haque Milon said in his speech, coordination between public representatives and the administration is very important for the development and welfare of the people of Kaliganj.
Everyone has to play a responsible role so that the government’s development activities are implemented properly and the common people get the benefits.
