Diploma pharmacists deserve 10th grade
job option
After completing the four-year Diploma in Pharmacy course under the Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh (PCB), the pharmacists still lack the 10th grade in government employment.
But passing outs from various polytechnics and agricultural diploma institutes under Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) with equal qualifications, a diploma holder can easily join the 10th grade in various government institutions as Sub-Assistant Engineers, Sub-Assistant Architects and Sub-Assistant Agricultural Officers respectively.
Even after 50 years of independence, diploma pharmacists are being deprived of 10th grade due to unknown reasons. Although the then Health and Family Welfare Minister late Md. Nasim assured of getting 10th grade job demand of diploma pharmacists.
The pharmacist leaders gave several memorandums and letters to the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Public Administration regarding this. But unfortunately, the golden opportunity of 10th grade has not yet to reach.
However, pharmacists are working relentlessly as per advice of doctors to prevent antibiotic resistance in public and private hospitals, family planning centers. They are involved in proper drug supply and distribution in various institutions.
We humbly request the Prime Minister and THE Health Minister to provide diploma pharmacists with 10th grade job facility and accelerate their passion for health care delivery.
