Third round of BPL Football begins today

The third round of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football will begin today at the different venues across the country.

After 12-day recess, BPL Football, the most prestigious domestic football competition of the country will kick-off today.

The second round matches of the BPL Football were held on December 30 last.

Reigning champions Bashundhara Kings will take on Fortis Football Club at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital today.

The match kick-start at 5.00pm.

The most important match of Dhaka Derby, between the two giants Dhaka Abahani Limited and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited will be held at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj which will begin at 2.45pm.

Rest of the two matches of the day will also kick-off at 2.45pm. Traditional outfit Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited will take on Brothers Union Club at the Muktijoddha Smrity Stadium in Rajshahi, while Chittagong Abahani Limited will meet Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshuganj.

Defending champions Bashundhara Kings led the points table collecting six points from two matches. Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra bagged four points each from their respective two outings.

Bangladesh Police Football Club gained three points from two matches. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited and Fortis Football Club collected four points each playing two games. Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society captured two points from two outings.

On the other hand, title aspirants Dhaka Abahani Limited earned just one point from two matches.

Brothers Union Club also gained one point from as many outings. On the other hamd, Chittagong Abahani Limited failed to open their account playing two matches.

Goalkeeper Pappu Hossain of Dhaka Abahani Limited said, ” Tomorrow’s match is very vital for us.

If we won the previous two matches, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited will be under pressure.

We have to return to our own game with exact rhythm. We can regain our own confidence after win the tomorrow’s match.”

He said, “Our Head Coach Andres Cruciani said to us, ” There will be ups and downs in every game.

Abahani are not such kind of out-fit. He suggested us to regain self confidence.”
