MP candidate threatens to go to HC if necessary

At a press conference at Chittagong Press Club’s S Rahman Hall on Monday, Bijay Kumar Chowdhury, an independent candidate in the 12th national elections demanded that he had urged the Election Commission to cancel the candidature of Abdus Chalam, the winner of the Chittagong-8 (Boalkhali-Chandgaon) seat. But the Commission did not take any action. ‘If necessary, I will go to the High Court. The election took place in a one-sided and controversial environment. The role of the administration was also mysterious. I did not get any help or remedy even with repeated complaints’ he said.
He said, Kettle symbol independent candidate Abdus Salam stole my victory by casting fake votes. He tried to intimidate my agents.
Bijay alleges that since 10 am during the election, Abdus Salam with the help of BNP-Jamaat workers staged from Bahdarhat to Mohra by burning tyres, pelting stones, and created an atmosphere of terror. 10 thousand 708 of my minority voters in Chandgaon ward and 8 thousand 767 in Mohra ward could not go to the polling station.
