Madhukhali farmers happy over pumpkin harvest

In Madhukhali Upazila of Faridpur, farmers planted sweet pumpkin as a companion crop in the pepper field. Farmers get good prices by producing sweet pumpkin, a non-poisonous vegetable at low cost without additional fertilizers and pesticides. In different areas of the upazila, in the middle of August, farmers sow sweet pumpkin seeds as a companion crop in the pepper fields. Planting pumpkin seeds does not require any cultivation. Sweet pumpkins are grown without additional fertilizers and pesticides. After 60 to 65 days, the farmers can market the sweet pumpkin.
Going to Sarzamin on Saturday, it can be seen that the produced pumpkins are being sent to different districts to meet the local demand. The total cost per hectare of land is about 40 thousand taka, and pumpkin is sold for 2 to 2.5 lakh taka. Farmers are now busy marketing pumpkins. The yield is a little less this year than last year.
