BIDA receives Tk 209,626m investment proposal in July-Sept

Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) received investment proposals worth Tk209,626.425 million from July to September this year.
Based on the quarterly statistics released by BIDA, there were 227 newly registered companies in the same period.
Among these, 203 are locally invested industries, 12 are fully foreign-owned enterprises, and an additional 12 companies represent joint investments.
Among these registered institutions, local investments amount to Tk108,691.992 million, while foreign investments amount to Tk100,934.433 million.
The total investment proposal for the same period (July-September) of 2022 was Tk3,16,103.392 million.
Which indicates that the investment proposals decreased by Tk1,06,476.967 million during the same period this year, falling nearly 33.5 percent.
In the last three months, the highest foreign investment proposals have been received in the service sector.
Besides, a significant amount of investment proposals have been received in the chemical industry sector, food and related industrial sector, engineering industry sector and textile industry sector.
A total of 57,937 new jobs are expected to be created in 227 industrial units registered with BIDA (local and foreign) in these three months, according to BIDA statistics.
According to BIDA, in the three months, there was a substantial proposal for investments in various sectors, especially in the service sector, including chemical industries, food-related industries, engineering industries and textile industries. BIDA expected that the investments would create 57,937 new job opportunities.
The value of industrial investment proposals in the past financial year 2022-2023 decreased by 7.28 per cent or Tk 9,046 crore compared with that in FY 2021-22, according to Bangladesh Investment Development Authority data.
In FY23, BIDA received investment proposals worth Tk 1,15,072 crore against Tk 1,24,118 crore received in FY22.
