Remittance inflow surges 25.7pc by August 24
Bangladesh received US$ 2.340 billion in remittances during the first 24 days of August up 25.7 percent from US$1.861 billion received during the corresponding period of 2025, according to the latest data released by Bangladesh Bank.
During July 1 to August 24, 2026, the country received US$5.198 billion in workers’ remittances, compared with US$4.339 billion during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Central bank figures indicate a sustained upward momentum in official remittance channels, driven by consistent inflows through formal banking channels.
The latest figure represents a 19.8 percent year-on-year increase in remittance inflow during the first 55 days of FY2026-27.
The continued rise in remittance inflows is expected to help strengthen the country’s foreign exchange reserves and support external sector stability.
