Rangamati LGED implements Tk 1026.77cr projects since 2009-2023

Spending a total of Tk. 1026.77 crore (one thousand twenty-six crore and seventy-seven lakh) in 15 years since 2009 to 2023 in Rangamati hill district, Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) implemented various types of projects including bridges and culverts construction, in order to make easier lives of the people living in the hilly district, Ahmed Shofi, Executive Engineer, mentioned the above data while speaking to the New Nation.
Of the implemented works, the LGED improved a total of 225 kilometers of roads costing Tk. 585 (five hundred eighty-five) crore with a view to facilitating communications of the people living in the remote hilly areas under Road Development and Rehabilitation Project.
Besides, the department built a total of 36 bridges and culverts of 2522 meters costing Tk. 125 (one hundred twenty-five) crore in different hard to reach areas of the district for the same aim.
Giving priority to primary education of the backward district, the department built 360 buildings spending Taka 250(two hundred fifty) crore in different remote areas of the district under Primary Education Development Project according to the government plan.
In order to make upazila and union porishad level services of the government more dynamic, the LGED constructed a total of 25 buildings costing Taka 44 (forty-four) crore. Of them, three (3) buildings costing Taka 25 crore under Upazila Complex Building Construction Project and 22 buildings under Union Porishad Complex Building Construction Project were built spending Taka 19 crore, the Executive Engineer added.
Under Rural Haat Bazaar Development Project, the organization developed five (5) haat bazaars in different remote areas at a cost of Taka 12 (twelve) crore with a view to ensuring trade facilities to the locals.
In order to ensure observing religious rituals of the locals from different communities living in different remote areas of the district, the LGED developed 103 infrastructures, such as mosque, temple, pagoda, cemetery etc. costing Taka six (6) crore under Social Infrastructure Development Project.
