BD women cruise past Pakistan
Bangladesh Under-20 Women’s Hockey team registered two consecutive victories in their Junior Asia Cup Hockey campaign, while Bangladesh Under-20 Men’s Hockey team conceded two consecutive losses in their Junior Asia Cup Hokey mission.
Bangladesh Under-20 Women’s Hockey team thrashed Chinese Taipei Under-20 Women’s Hockey team by seven goals to nil in their first match at Moqi Training Ground in China on Saturday.
They defeated Pakistan 5-1 in their second match at the same venue on Sunday.
The Women’s Hockey team are at the top of the Junior Asia Cup Challenger Pool earned six points playing two matches.
Lonima Nupur gave Bangladesh the lead with a field goal in the ninth minute of the match.
Ema Nadira doubled the lead in the second quarter. Pakistan then defended tightly, but Bangladesh’s attack did not stop.
Rimon Sarika scored Bangladesh’s third goal from a penalty stroke in the 33rd minute.

They previously finished ninth in the 2024 edition. The current champions of the Women’s Junior Asia Cup are India.
In this 10-team tournament, Bangladesh women are in the Challenger Pool along with Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong.
In the Elite Pool, hosts China are joined by Japan, India, South Korea and Malaysia.
The top three teams in the Challenger Pool and the five teams in the Elite Pool will play in the quarterfinals.
The fourth and fifth teams in the Challenger Pool will play in the ninth-10th place match.
The Bangladesh Under-20 Men’s Hockey team lost for the second consecutive matches in the Junior Asia Cup.
After losing 3-2 to China in their first match on Friday, they lost 4-2 to Malaysia on Sunday.
Bangladesh will face Kazakhstan in the third match on Tuesday. No one scored a goal in the first quarter on Sunday at China’s Moqi Training Ground.
However, Bangladesh conceded two goals between the 21st and 23rd minutes of the second quarter.
Bangladesh’s hopes of returning to the match were revived when Abdullah scored in the 24th minute.
Mehedi Hasan’s field goal in the third quarter further strengthened Bangladesh’s hopes of returning to the match.
Bangladesh tied 2-2 with his field goal. But Suzaini Fahmi ended Bangladesh’s hopes in the fourth quarter.
This Malaysian took the match out by scoring two goals in the 48th and 51st minutes. In the end, Bangladesh could not return to the match from here.
