World Food Day observed in Rangpur

World Food Day was observed in Rangpur with various programs.

This year’s theme is ‘Water is life, water is food.

No one will be left behind. Rangpur City Corporation secretary Umme Fatima was present as the chief guest in a day-long event at a hotel in the city on Monday.

Rangpur City Corporation female councilor HasnaBanu was the special guest.

The event was presided over by Panel Mayor Mahabubur Rahman.

Officer of Agricultural Extension Department Rashida Yasmin, Senior Scientific Officer of Nice Project Abdur Razzak spoke among others.

The main objective of this event is to make people aware about food nutrition and safety.

Also to discuss the initiatives taken to create public awareness about the provision of high quality vegetable seedlings and safely produced vegetables from Syngenta Foundation’s Nice Nutrition Farmers Hub to the city dwellers.

The event concluded with talks on nutrition, success stories of women and youth entrepreneurs, discussions on safe, healthy and agro-ecologically produced food, public awareness on nutrition, safe sources of vegetables and above all bringing together people from the community on World Food Day.
