BNP-led govt will fall by December, Oli warns

Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Chairman Col (retd) Oli Ahmad has claimed that the BNP-led government will fall by December, urging the 11-party alliance to maintain discipline to pave the way for its return to power.

“It is now widely being said that this government will fall by December,” he said on Saturday (September 5) while speaking as a special guest at a rally in Paduar Bazar, Cumilla, during the 11-party alliance’s Dhaka-Chattogram long march.

Oli Ahmad said the alliance was on the verge of coming to power but alleged that certain individuals had prevented it from doing so.

In a controversial remark, he referred to former interim government Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan and made derogatory comments about her religious beliefs.

He said the alliance would eventually come to power, “InshaAllah.”
Oli Ahmad also recalled comments he made about former prime minister Sheikh Hasina in 2022, when he warned her that delaying her departure from power could have more serious consequences.

“Do you remember that in 2022 I said Hasina could leave with her clothes if she left then, but if she left later, she would have to leave in the clothes on her back?” he said.

“There will be no exception to this for those currently in government either. Maintain discipline. If discipline is maintained, the 11-party alliance will come to power,” he added.
