3 including a former director banned for fixing in BPL

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has charged three persons over corruption related activities the 12th edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Among them one is Mokhlesur Rahman, a former board director who served under the leadership of Aminul Islam Bulbul.

The other two are former liaison officer Zakir Hasan and Rakibul Islam Sunny, a former member secretary of the audit committee.

The BCB announced the temporary suspension of the three individuals in a press release on Tuesday.

They have the opportunity to present their case against this decision within the next 15 days.

An investigation by the BCB’s Integrity Unit has brought to allegations against them regarding attempts to influence the outcome or course of a match, encouraging or assisting others in corrupt activities, failing to disclose information about corrupt approaches, and refusing to cooperate with the investigation.

Mukhlesur Rahman has been charged with match-fixing or attempting to unethically influence aspects of a match, attempting to involve another person in corruption, failing to disclose information regarding a corrupt approach, and obstructing the investigation by concealing, deleting, or destroying investigation-related communications or information.

Zakir Hossain faces allegations of attempting to influence the outcome of a match, encouraging or assisting others in corrupt activities, and failing to cooperate with the BCB’s anti-corruption investigation.

Rakibul Islam Sunny has been accused of failing to timely disclose information regarding a corrupt proposal and of not cooperating with the investigation.
