Ferdousi Mazumder, Sahana Sumi’s ‘Agantuk’ at Busan International Film Festival

The 28th edition of Asia’s
prestigious Busan International Film Festival was inaugurated in Busan, South Korea from last October 4.

Bangladeshi movie ‘Agantuk (The Stanger)’, directed by Biplob Sarkar, has been placed in the main competition section of the festival.

This time for the second time a Bangladeshi movie got a place in the main competition category in Busan International Film Festival.

Bangladesh’s living legend
veteran actress Ferdousi Mazumder and Sahana Rahman Sumi played the two main roles in this movie.

Actress Sahana Sumi on Thursday told this correspondent from Busan that tomorrow and next October 8 and 12, her acted movie ‘Agantuk’ will be screened in this festival.

Sumi told this correspondent, “Earlier my movie ‘Nacholer Rani’ was screened in some festivals in India.

But this is the first time that a movie starring me is going to be screened in such a big festival.

I did not know that the Busan International Film Festival was such a big event.

Actors, directors, producers, viewers from different countries of the world have come to this festival. I am really excited to come to this festival.

I want to give full credit to the director and producer of my movie.

And I am very fortunate to be able to act with Ferdousi Mazumder Apa in the movie. I learned a lot from her straight acting.”

Ferdousi Mazumder said, “I like the story of ‘Agantuk’. That’s why I acted in the movie. Good to hear that the movie is going to be screened at a prestigious film festival like Busan. Best wishes to all and lots of love and prayers for Sumi.”

Earlier last year, the movie ‘Agantuk’ was the best movie and won in the Viewing Room Recommendations Section of Film Bazaar held in Goa, India by Prasad Lab DI Award and the Moviebuff Appreciation Award.

The movie received a grant from the Bangladesh government in 2019. The filming of the movie was completed in March-April of 2022.

‘Agantuk’ was shot by Mazharul Raju, art direction was by Wakilur Rahman and Saddam Khondokar Joy while Farhad Reza Milon and Khokon were in makeup.

The released movies starring Sahana Rahman Sumi are: ‘Nacholer Rani’, ‘Swapnojal’, ‘Gohin Baluchor’ and ‘Payer Chhap’.

Her acted two movies – ‘Chanader Amabasya’ and ‘Kajol Rekh’ are waiting for release.
