20 BNP men hurt as AL set fire to microbus in Natore

Staf Reporter :
The main opposition party BNP’s three front bodies on Sunday organised the youth road march from Bogura to Rajshahi as part of its one point demand.

A microbus has been set on fire in Natore allegedly by the ruling Awami League men leaving 20 BNP men injured.

The micro-bus was on its way to joining the road march.

The incident took place in front of Dighapatia Textile Mill in Natore Sadar upazila.

“It is definitely the heinous task of the ruling Awami League men. Who dare to attack a microbus full of BNP leaders and activists,” Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, BNP Organising Secretary, told The New Nation on Sunday.

He said, “It is worst result of the administration’s reluctant mentality of doing nothing to contain ruling party men’s terrorists’ activities going for long.”

Dulu alleged that previously the local AL men attacked BNP leaders including district unit BNP convenor, member secretary and joint conveners, but the police are yet to take any cases in these regards.

Meanwhile, Awami League’s Natore district unit general secretary Shariful Islam Ramzan denied the allegation and said that the party had no connection with the incident.

Nasim Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Natore Sadar police station, told journalists that they were looking into the matter and trying to identify the miscreants.

The BNP has alleged that the government was ‘involving in a conspiracy to kill’ their party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
“Begum Khaleda Zia, the most popular leader of the country, who has been fighting for democracy throughout her life, is facing death at a hospital now after being convicted in a false case.

Government has barred her to go abroad for taking necessary medical treatment even though doctors have clearly said that she urgently needs a liver transplant which is not possible without sending her abroad,” BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said while addressing a short rally before the Youth Road March on Bogura Hatkhola ground on Sunday.

“The government has been informed repeatedly the matter of Khaleda Zia’s worst health conditions. Her family said, we said.

But Sheikh Hasina is not listening to us,” Mirza Fakhrul said.

The BNP Secretary General demanded immediate release of Begum Khaleda Zia and permission to send her abroad for taking advance medical treatment.

The BNP leader said, “Our message is crystal clear, it is one-point demand – quit, dissolve the parliament, and hold elections under a non-party neutral government.”

“Today, all the political parties of Bangladesh have got united.

Let us unite with the people and remove this monstrous government and establish a true people’s government,” he said.

“I want to give this message to the people of Bangladesh from today’s rally, let’s wake up and defeat this unelected government.

Establish democracy in the country,” Mirza Fakhrul said. He also expressed concern over rising commodity prices.

“Firstly, you steal and then claim prices have been fixed, it is not acceptable. The prices of essentials like rice, pulse, oil, salt, and potatoes have skyrocketed,” he said.

The youth road march organised by Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal, Jatiyatabadi Swachchhasebak Dal, and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal started at 11:30am from Bogra to Rajshahi .

Thousands of leaders and activists have participated in the road march on motorcycles, private cars, microbuses, and trucks.
