Sheikh Arif Bulbon :
Ekushey Padak recipient national actor, playwright and director Abul Hayat turned 80 today.
Family celebration of the day has started since last night. This special day of Abul Hayat will be specially celebrated at home this morning too, according to the actor.
Today at 12:30pm, he will participate in Channel i’s star talk programme titled ‘Taroka Kothon’ produced by Anonna Ruma. The actor said that he will stay at home for the rest of the day.
In recognition of his performance, Abul Hayat won the first and only National Film Award for his performance in the movie ‘Daruchini Dwip’ directed by Tauquir Ahmed.
However, Abul Hayat feels that the award he received for acting in 1974 was the biggest award of his life.
In 1974, he acted in the play ‘Baki Itihas’ on stage under the direction of Ali Zaker.
He was awarded the ‘Sequence Award for Naturalistic Acting and Bangladesh Stage’ for his performance.
A magazine named Sequence awarded Abul Hayat with this award. This is the best award of his acting career, according to this veteran actor.
However, Abul Hayat considers the audience’s love as the best achievement of his lifetime.
Abul Hayat has acted in many TV dramas, films and stage plays. He has produced many dramas.
He recently produced the drama ‘Pagla Hawa Badol Dine’ for Channel i a few days ago.
Regarding the 80th birthday, Abul Hayat told this correspondent, “My two daughters – Bipasha and Natasha are not with me on such a special day.
It feels a little bad. But my birthday is my granddaughter Shrisha’s birthday.
Nana (maternal grandfather) and granddaughter will try to celebrate the day together.
There is Shahed. I will try to enjoy with Shahed. My wife Shirin usually tries to make the first birthday memorable by bringing a cake on the day before the birthday.
And Channel i organises my birthday every year specially. As I am entering my 80th year, I will celebrate my birthday in a special way.
Thanks to my dear viewers. I still get inspiration for acting because of them.”
It is mentioned that Abul Hayat was awarded Ekushe Padak in 2015.
