Kangana’s spine-chilling dance in trailer of ‘Chandramukhi 2’
Director P Vasu has unveiled the trailer for his upcoming Tamil
comedy-horror movie ‘Chandramukhi 2’ and it evokes the essence of the 2004 original while carving its own identity.
Notably, Kangana Ranaut takes on the role of Chandramukhi, a captivating yet eerie ghost of a bygone dancer.
In her portrayal, Kangana Ranaut breathes life into Chandramukhi, a dancer hailing from the court of King Vettiyan Raja.
She displays her exceptional dancing prowess while embodying the enchanting and haunting persona of the character.
Additionally, Raghava Lawrence assumes the role of Vettiyan Raja, delivering the expected dose of high-octane action, while Vadivelu adds to the movie’s charm with his impeccable comic timing, portraying Murugesan.
The movie’s narrative shifts between past and present, sharing resemblances with ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, as a family moves into a haunted palace housing the vengeful spirit of a furious female ghost.
However, unlike ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’s psychological horror, ‘Chandramukhi 2’ opts for supernatural horror with a touch of humour.
Kangana Ranaut’s Chandramukhi appears to be a scorned woman seeking revenge, reminiscent of Monjolika from ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’.
Interestingly, these comparisons are unsurprising, as the 2005 ‘Chandramukhi’ itself is a remake of the 2004 Kannada movie ‘Apthamitra’.
Intriguingly, ‘Apthamitra’ was a remake of the 1993 Malayalam movie ‘Manichitrathazhu’, which served as the foundation for ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ in Bollywood.
