BCB announces Women’s squad for Asiad

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Wednesday night the 15-member Bangladesh Women’s Cricket squad for the Cricket Competition of the Asian Games, which is scheduled to be held at Hangzhou in China this year.

Experienced Salma Khantun, prolific Jahanara Alam, notable cricketer Rumana Ahmed and promising Murshida Khatun have been ruled out from the squad.

Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team lost to Indian Women’s Cricket team by 2-1 in the three-match T20I series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka recently.

But the Tigresses drew 1-1 with mighty India in the ODI series at the same venue recently.

Earlier, Bangladesh Men’s Cricket team won gold medal in this event of Asian Games.

It is the first gold medal for Bangladesh in any Asian Games.

On the other hand, Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team achieved silver medal in the Asian Games 2018.

Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team will play directly in this years Cricket Competition of the Asian Games.

The Asian Games will start from September 19 this year.

Bangladesh, India Pakistan and Sri Lanka will take place in the quarter-final of Hangzhou Asian Games.

The cricketers, who have been chosen, are: Nigar Sultana (Captain), Nahida Akter, Sathi Rani, Fargana Haque, Shamima Sultana, Sobhana Mostary, Jhorna Akter, Ritu Moni, Lata Mondal, Sultana Khatun, Fahima Khatun, Rabeya, Sanjida Akter, Marufa Akter and Disha Biswas.
