‘Weaknesses in dialogue’, not Durefishan’s English accent: Netizens
This is the question that is currently being discussed on the internet, centred around Pakistani actress Durefishan Saleem.
There is a lot of discussion on social media about the way she delivers English dialogues in new drama serial ‘Dar-e-Nijaat’.
However, when this storm turned into a personal attack, senior actress Sanam Saeed did not remain silent. She stood by her co-star and strongly protested the matter.
Recently, Sanam Saeed wrote on social media, “It is extremely uncomfortable and unreasonable to make fun of an artiste’s pronunciation or presentation in this way.
The way he is being targeted on every platform is a manifestation of a kind of cruelty and insensitive behavior towards people.”
In serial ‘Dar-e-Nijaat’, the character ‘Zaryab’ played by Durefishaan is a girl from a noble family who is preparing for higher education in the United States.
The character is seen speaking in a mix of Urdu and English for the sake of the script.
However, a large section of netizens and theater lovers see the matter differently.
They claim that the problem is not only in accent of the actress, but the main weakness is in the plot and dialogue of the play.
