Manna’s death: Wife Shelly wants speedy resolution of medical negligence case

SM Aslam Talukder Manna, the popular actor of two
eras of Dhallywood, died on February 17, 2008 while under the treatment. Manna’s family filed a case against six doctors at United Hospital in the
capital on September 17, 2008, alleging medical negligence
in the film actor’s death.
However, even after 13 years of Manna’s death, the case has not been settled. At present, the proceedings of this case
are suspended by order of the High Court. Manna’s wife Shelly Manna held a press
conference on the court premises on Sunday.
At the press conference, Shelly Manna told media, “Manna left us in 2008. In 2008, we filed a case against the hospital. The case was negligent. At that time, there was a media trial of the case. There was
a hope among all that the case would get the desired result. But a long time has passed and we are not getting any results from his family.
We, the family, want the case
to be resolved quickly.”
Hero Manna died on February 17, 2008. That day
he was admitted to the United Hospital of Dhaka with chest pain. He died there. Reza Quader, brother of Manna’s wife Shelly Manna, filed a case in the Dhaka court on September 17, 2008, accusing some doctors of negligence
in his death.
Police investigation found evidence of negligence on
the part of doctors.
The trial of the accused
doctor began in court. But it did not last long because at one time the accused got out on bail. Then in 2009, a ruling was issued confirming the
proceedings of the case.
