Experts call for boosting frozen fish exports

Bangladesh needs to identify and address the challenges facing the fisheries sector to unlock its export potential, Mohammad Arif Hasan, vice-chairman and chief executive of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) said at a seminar in Khulna on Sunday.

The seminar, titled “Export Potential, Challenges and Way Forward for Frozen Fish and Fish Products”, was organised by the Khulna office of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) under its National Export Training Programme (NETP).

Mohammad Arif Hasan, vice-chairman and chief executive of the EPB, attended the seminar as the chief guest. The event was held at the conference room of the Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association.

“Fisheries and jute are two important sectors for the Khulna region.

We need to identify the problems facing these sectors and work together to address them,” Hasan said.

He said millions of people are directly or indirectly dependent on the fisheries sector, particularly in the rural economy, making its sustainable development crucial.
