The government has decided to buy 80 lakh litres of soybean oil, 12,500 tonnes of sugar for Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) at an estimated cost of Tk 193.61 crore.
The Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase took the decision on Wednesday. The meeting was chaired by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal. Cabinet Division additional secretary Sayed Mahbub said two proposals
were submitted for buying sugar and soybean oil to the Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase and both were approved.
Secretary said the Ministry of Commerce has been approved to buy 12 thousand 500 metric tons of sugar from Singapore’s Principal Metrics Private Limited in an international open bid system for the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB). The price of sugar per metric tonne is 477.94 USD. The total cost will be 59.44 lakh USD which equivalent to Tk 64.52 crore.
He said, in view of another proposal of the Ministry of Commerce, the proposal to buy 80 lakh liters of soybean oil from City Adiboil Limited has been approved for the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh. The price of soybean oil per liter will be Tk 161.37. The total cost will be 129.9 crore.
