Apu Biswas’ ‘Shikar’ shifts from web film to movie

Apu Biswas-starrer web film ‘Shikar’, which was originally announced as a web film earlier this year, is finally set to go on the floors this month after months of delay.

The project will no longer be released as a web film and will instead arrive in cinemas as a full-length feature film.

Director Kamruzzaman Roman said filming could not begin in March as planned because pre-production took longer than expected. With the preparations now complete, shooting will begin in the middle of this month.

Explaining the decision to turn ‘Shikar’ into a theatrical release, Roman said the team reviewed the budget, story and cast during pre-production and concluded that the project was better suited for the big screen. Following discussions with production house Reza Films, they decided to make it a full-length feature film instead of a web release.

The director said most of the film will be shot in Nepal. The production team is scheduled to travel there in the middle of this month for the filming.

Recording has already been completed for one of the film’s songs, ‘Dujon Mile Bachbo Ek Jibon’. Imran Mahmudul and Nancy have lent their voices to the track.

Kabir Bakul wrote the lyrics, while Imran composed and directed the music. Another emotional song, composed by Akash Mahmud, is also expected to be recorded soon.

Set against the backdrop of a border region, ‘Shikar’ is a thriller that will feature Apu Biswas in a glamorous role.

According to the director, the film’s greatest strength will be its story.

Small-screen actor Murtaza Polash will star opposite Apu Biswas in ‘Shikar’. Abdullah Zahir Babu has written the story and screenplay.
