Mohammedan reach final in Federation Cup

Mohammedan Sporting Club reached the final of the Federation Cup Football after a prolong 14 years upsetting high flying Bashundhara Kings by 2-1 goals in the first semi-final was held on Tuesday at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj.

In the day’s match, Brazilian defender Roger Duarte and Malian forward Souleymane Diabate scored one goal each for Mohammedan while Brazilian forward Dorielton netted a lone goal for Bashundhara Kings.

Roger Duarte gave Mohammedan a deserving lead early in the third minute while Dorielton equalized the margin for Bashundhara Kings in the 43rd minute of the match.

Souleymane Diabate sealed the victory scoring the second goal for Mohammedan in the 55th minute of the match.

Bashundhara Kings, who are 21 points ahead than Mohammedan in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football, however, tried their best to stage a fight back in the match creating some scoring chances, but they could convert any in the remaining proceeding.
Sunday Emmanuel of Mohammedan was named the best player of the match for his impressive performance.

Earlier, Mohammedan Sporting Club defeated Chittagong Abahani Limited by 4-1 goals, while Bashundhara Kings beat Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra by 3-1 goals, in their respective quarter-final matches.

The second semi-final match between Dhaka Abahani Limited and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra will be held on May 16 at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.

The final will be held on May 30 at the same venue.
