Bangladesh win a home Test against Ireland after 3 years

Bangladesh achieved an easy seven-wicket win over Ireland in the lone Test match on the fourth day at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Friday. Mushfiqur Rahim helped his side to earn the victory.
Electing to bat first, Ireland scored 214 in the first innings on the first day (Tuesday).
In reply, Bangladesh piled up a mammoth total of 369 in the first innings on the second day (Wednesday). Mushfiqur Rahim notched up a marvelous 126. His 166-ball innings was belted with 15 fours and a sixer.
Ireland made 292 in the second innings on the fourth day (Friday).
Chasing 138 runs to win, the Tigers sailed home making exact 138 for the loss of three wickets in the second innings on the fourth day.
Earlier, Ireland resumed their second innings with the over-night score of 286 for the loss of eight wickets. Ireland could add just six runs on the fourth day.
Andy McBrine and Graham Hume resumed their second innings with the over-night score of 71 and nine runs respectively.
Andy McBrine could add more one run on the fourth day as he was bowled out by pacer Ebadot Hossain when the tourists’ total was 289 for the loss of nine wickets.
Graham Hume could add more five runs only on the fourth day as he was caught behind by wicketkeeper Litton Das off Ebadot Hossain when Ireland’s second innings came to an end.
Ebadot Hossain was the day’s most successful bowler. He captured the day’s two wickets of Ireland.
Later, Bangladesh had a modest start as openers Tamim Iqbal and Litton Das put on together 32 runs in the opening stand before Litton Das (23) was bowled out by Mark Adair.
After Litton’s dismissal, Najmul Hossain Shanto arrived at the crease but he could stay at the pitch for a short period as Shanto (4) was caught at the slip by Andy Balbirnie off Andy McBrine when the hosts’ total was 43 for the loss of two wickets.
Opener Tamim Iqbal and second-down Mushfiqur Rahim mended the innings contributing together 62 runs for the third wicket partnership before Tamim Iqbal was caught at the midwicket by Murray Commins off Ben White when Bangladesh’s score was 105 for the loss of three wickets.
Tamim Iqbal knocked a fine 31 from 65 deliveries featuring three fours.
Then, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque helped their side to anchor the winning spot adding together 33 runs for the unbroken fourth wicket partnership.
Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten with 51 runs. He hit seven fours in his 48-ball innings. It was Mushfiqur’s 26th half-century in Test cricket. Mushfiqur Rahim was adjudged the Man of the Match for his consistent batting display.
Mominul Haque remained unbeaten with 20 runs.
Mark Adair, Ben White and Andy McBrine took one wicket each instead of 30, 43 and 52 runs respectively.
